Household Use of Cooking and Heating Kitchen Appliances: U.S. Food Industry MarketLooks
This report provides topline data on household use of cooking/heating kitchen appliances (in the specific sense of cooking raw foods or reheating prepared foods) in the U.S. These data are presented primarily through tables, bar graphs, and pie charts.
Report provides data on use of ovens (conventional or convection) and ranges (including use of range hood), whether electric or gas; microwaves; toaster ovens; and small electric cooking/heating appliances.
Household use of small cooking/heating kitchen appliances is tabulated in the context of demographic factors as well as weekly expenditures on groceries, where household shop for groceries, and average number of meals prepared at home weekly.
In addition, the report provides topline data on the number of cooks involved in cooking or meal preparation, the amount of time cooking/heating kitchen appliances are in use, the types of cooking/heating activities involved with kitchen appliance use, and weekday vs. weekend patterns.
The report also provides an overview of energy use factors, patterns by season of year, as well as use of outdoor grilling.
Data are based primarily on a Packaged Facts national online consumer survey conducted in April-May 2014. The data reflect a panel of 2,000 U.S. adults (age 18+) that is balanced to the national population on the primary demographic measures of gender, age bracket, race/ethnicity, geographic region, marital status, presence or absence of children in the household, and household income.
In addition, the report provides historical trend data on ownership and purchase of major and small kitchen appliances based on the Winter 2007-2008 through 2013-2014 Simmons national consumer surveys from Experian Marketing Services.
